Frankie requests prayer
Submitted by: Pat LaRose
Our friend Frankie has been dealing with a benign brain tumor since he was 2 years old. He has had multiple brain surgeries, the last one being in 2004. He is going for a check up in August and he is anxious as this is the longest period he has ever had without needing surgery. The surgeries have left him home bound for up to 6 months in the past, as he needs to re-gain motor skills and vision post surgery. Frankie has been seeking a closer relationship with Jesus and a better understanding of Christianity over the past 2 years, as evidenced by his request for this prayer. Please pray that as Frankie faces this evaluation that he will know the fathers love for him and put his trust in God. Thank you, Pat07-14-2008

job interview
Submitted by: Sandy Burgess
Please pray for an interview I arranged today, which will be this Friday at Child Guidance Clinic. Also please pray for my current agency (Child and Family Service of Pioneer Valley) as we merge with Center for Human Development (this will, I believe, give more opportunities). I have been blessed lately to find job leads not requiring a driver's license, bilingual fluency, or 3 years experience in work with a particular population as I am new to the field. I expect to here again from another agency, and yet another is interesting in talking to me when I have my initial social work license though, she said, she usually wants someone at a higher level than that. She has trouble getting people willing to work with cognitively impaired. Hope this is not too long. Please forgive if I am asking/wanting too much. Thanks. 06-11-2008

I am struggling somewhat going to a job not requiring my advanced college degree, but think I need the job and its income until I can build up my social work career, and I do believe in the employer and what they stand for. Today's thought from Hazelden is: Asking how Many days we are tempted to ask Why? Why did this happen to me? Why was I singled out? Why am I not a different person? But the whys lead only to clever explanations and rationalizations of what we do or what we are. The question for us is not Why? but How? We ask how to learn and work our program of recovery; the "how" can give us a deeper understanding of the program. We ask God How? and God provides the strength and guidance needed. "How" will lead to everything needed for recovery and personal growth. "Why" is irrelevant. Am I learning how to live? Higher Power, teach me how to live, love, and learn. Praise from CPC missionaries... Great news from the Outreach Dinner Party in Raciborz, Poland! Piotr Czech (the businessman who leads the EM team there) called Sue this morning to give us this information. He said, “It was a miracle! 100% who responded that they were coming actually came! PLUS we had to add 2 chairs!” 95 guests, 115 total 61 prayed to receive Christ! (and this is minus all the cards from people who checked the box but they knew were already believers, like Dr. Gorka) Peter Grondziowski ACCEPTED CHRIST!! (He is Piotr's brother-in-law with whom we had a follow-up appointment after the Oct '06 outreach and then whom we hosted in our home this past August.) Piotr knows this is a direct result of their time with us this summer! (He said the trip was worth every dollar he spent so that Peter’s heart would become more softened.) Peter and Janina want us to come to their home when we are in Raciborz next week. (Piotr and Anna think we should go without them so we can really build into their lives more.) Chet presented the gospel incredibly clearly, he explained it many ways to be sure the people knew what he was saying. He expressed the importance of a personal relationship with Jesus and told them what they were about to pray, BUT there was no pressure, it was completely comfortable, and that was very important to the Poles. He also asked for feedback when they would be filling out comments on cards, saying that it was important for he and Beth to know what others thought about the evening. Then Arnold (Polish host) got up and his comments flowed so smoothly from Chet’s, and he did a fabulous job transitioning to filling out the cards. He was perfect in this role. 61 people checked a box in response to the question “Did you pray together with the speaker?” and they Piotr said it was perfectly clear what they were praying. Only a few cards were not filled in. 18 want appointments with Americans to discuss this further and 15 others left contact info but said things like their English wasn’t strong enough to meet with us. That is no problem with translators. We will be very busy for the next 2 weeks! A miracle for Piotr Czech, the lead host – he FELT our prayers – he felt no pressure, no stress, no heavy responsibility on his shoulders. The event was a natural fit for him, felt completely right. He’s not exhausted or overwhelmed at all. He is SO thankful to God and to us for our love, support, prayers. He said this was really, really big for him. (Can’t you hear him saying this!) REJOICE! Thanks for your prayers and please continue praying, now for the follow-up process. Sue and I will be assisting them with this for the rest of October (we depart for Poland on Friday). With gratitude to God! Paul & Sue 10-10-2007
