Giving and Serving

Philosophy of Ministry

The core of CPC's ministry is the people serving God outside the walls of our building. We believe in empowering people to do the ministry that God designed and called them to do. At CPC, the ministry is not the ministry of the Session, but the ministry of the people of God. Our Elders' (the Session) role is to lead by example and to hold the members accountable to their faith and service to God. Likewise, the members are to hold the Elders accountable to their faith and service. At the heart of the gospel is that we receive before we give.

The primary means we empower people to serve (and receive):

Financial Giving

At CPC we view giving as a privilege and opportunity to thank God for his generosity in our life. Your giving goes to support the vitality of this congregation, the outreach of the Gospel into Springfield and the surrounding areas. Eleven percent of all financial gifts are bestowed upon our missionary partners overseas and locally. We appreciate your support and act of thanksgiving toward God.

Looking to get involved and serve?

"For even the Son of Man came not to be served, but to serve..." (Mark 10:45)

At CPC, we understand that the good news of Jesus not only brings salvation to the individual, but it also unites us together as children of God and fellow citizens of His Kingdom.

Because of this glorious reality, serving one another and our community isn’t something we have to do. Rather, it is a solemn privilege given to us by God himself—participation in his mission to bring the blessing of life with him to every nook and cranny of creation.

Serving Inside the Church

We are a church that serves. Let’s commit to receiving the blessing of God’s Word and His community each Sunday from 9am to 12pm. We can all do that together by serving the needs of others as well.

  • Audio/Visual Team: Help create and run the worship visuals, soundboard, and/or livestream.

  • Sunday Morning Greeter: Welcome people as they enter the building and direct them where to go. Come early to prepare the building for the morning.

  • Prayer Team: Serve as a prayer warrior for the congregation by joining the text and email prayer line.

  • Building & Property Stewardship Taskforce: Plan and take care of routine maintenance around the building.

  • Food & Fellowship: Join a team on a two-month rotational basis to provide food and snacks for fellowship after the service.

  • Nursery: Serve as care providers for children three and under during the Sunday School hour or Worship. Come early and make sure the nursery is prepared.

  • Worship Team: Lead the congregation in glorifying God with your vocal and musical talents.

  • Clean-Up and Closing the Church: Help serve by yourself or with a team to clean-up and close the church on Sunday after service on a rotational basis.

Serving Outside the Church

We have many ways that we love our neighbors. Here are a few opportunities for serving the community.
